PFA Scotland Education
It is inevitable that every player will have to stop playing at some stage and find something else to do with the rest of their life! Football is a short career and almost every player will at some point have to earn a living outside the game.
For that reason PFA Scotland views the education and training of members as one of its priorities. Never before has it been more vital for players to be offered this type of help.
Advice
PFA Scotland recognises that Scotland's professional players of all ages and standards require help and guidance. Our experienced team will be on hand to ensure that any player showing an interest in learning will receive the advice and assistance from our education team.
This includes giving support to the SFA National Youth Project in partnership with the SFA and Skills Development Scotland, and to providing basic and professional guidance.
Co-ordination
PFA Scotland has established links with colleges, universities and training providers across Scotland. Once a player has decided on a particular career path, PFA Scotland will co-ordinate the most suitable courses to meet those personal requirements.
The future
So what happens when you hang up your boots?
PFA Scotland Education provides advice and guidance for the provision of educational and vocational courses in preparation for a second career; this applies to all current registered players in the SFL and SPL.
Grants
PFA Scotland can advise members on accessing grants towards the costs of education and training courses. The football industry has an Educational Fund which will pay 66% of the total cost, up to a maximum of £300 per year. Members of PFA Scotland are entitled to apply for a grant. All grants are discretionary; criteria and levels of funding do change from time to time.
Courses
Grant aid from the Education Trust is available for a variety of courses. Please contact Craig Flannigan for further information.
